A Town Meeting was held on 17th August 2010, when many residents expressed their concerns about the preposed development on the old cattle market site. As a result, a committee has been formed to prepare for the formal application being submitted and any necessary representations.

The Market Action Group held its first meeting on 8 September 2010 when the following Mission Statement was agreed.

"The Market Action Group supports in principle the redevelopment of the Henley Cattle Market site. The objective of the Group is to ensure that the redevelopment of the Market Site delivers the best outcome for the longterm benefit of the residents of the Town. The Market Action Group will engage with as many stakeholders as possible, using its best endeavours to achieve a development that is in keeping with the town's historical traditions and long term needs. It will endeavour to address the concerns expressed at the Town Meeting, by closely matching the wishes of the community through liaison with those involved with the planning decision".
