After leaving the car park at the rear, walk through the gardens, over the River Alne turn left and walk until you come to Beaudesert Lane, by St Nicholas Church yard. Go right through the kissing gate by the church wall and follow the waymarkers of the Heart of England Way for a steep but short ascent to the top of The Mount. Continue over the old earthworks of the former castle of the de Montfort family until you reach the corner of the top field.

Turn right and over stile behind (Harry Griffin’s) bench. Continue along field/footpath keeping hedge to your left.

At the end of the hedge (about 200m) climb over the stile on the left and take the right hand path, cutting the field ahead diagonally.

Go over the stile and turn left on the road and walk about 200m.

Turn right on a footpath that runs along a drive to a house. After 100m continue along a narrow path to a kissing gate, walking diagonally left across field towards stile.

Walk down to stile on left corner and follow path across stile to kissing gate, then across field towards Preston Bagot Church.

Go across the road and up the steep path to Preston Bagot Church (worth a visit).

Continue on path across across the road after the church and follow the path straight ahead downhill across field until you reach the little bridge, cross this, then go to your right up to the canal.
Turn right and walk along the canal to the gate by lock 38 through the gate turn right and then left back onto the towpath, continuing along the canal under the road.

At bridge 48 cross over canal and continue along the right side of the canal.

Continue until bridge 50 and take a right along the private drive/narrow road that bends sharp left, bringing you to a road near the Pettiford Bridge. Turn right over the road bridge.

After 50m, go left into pastureland. The path arcs right diagonally over a field. Cross the stile in the far left corner to reach the banks of the river Alne. Take the riverside path, then at a junction by a tree bear right and proceed ahead, passing to the right of Blackford Mill farm buildings.

Continue through a gate onto field paths to the left of Blackford Hill to reach the A4189 road in Henley-in-Arden. Cross the road going left past the end of Arden Road, then right on to Prince Harry Road, which leads back to the car park.
